Access throughout the Corn Exchange has been approved by All Clear Designs and includes:

  • Drop curb at the front of the building.
  • Fully automated outside door.
  • One level access from front door to wheelchair seating.
  • Backstage, a fully accessible shower and toilets allow full access for disabled performers.
  • Lower level box office and bar counters.
  • Toilet for people with disabilities.
  • An infra-red sound enhancement system for the hard-of-hearing has been installed for use with or without a hearing aid.
  • Please reserve sets at the time of booking (to be collected from the Box Office prior to the event).
  • We welcome both seeing and hearing Guide dogs. A bowl of water can be provided.
  • Large print brochures are available on request.
  • For deaf patrons, the Box Office Minicom number is 01553 766202.
  • To enhance your safety and comfort we require patrons in wheelchairs to book a designated wheelchair space.
  • A dedicated row of seats, able to accommodate both wheelchair users and a companion, is integrated within the main body of the seating. A maximum of 7 wheelchairs can be accommodated per event at the Com Exchange.  Whilst it is advisable to book these seats in advance - preferably before 4pm on the performance day - 2 wheelchair spaces will remain available until the time of the performance, subject to availability.

01/08/05 - 'Good, intimate theatre. My recent visit was stress free thanks to the great staff, who greeted me from my cab and made sure my family and I had a fantastic time.  Nice view of the stage, slightly restricted but none of the action on stage was missed because of this.  A lot more accessible than some of the other west end theatres' - Helen

"Given the age of this theatre, access is not bad.  However, there are a few factors wheelchair users need to aware of.  There is a steep ramp inside the foyer, which means assistance may be required.  Wheelchair spaces are located at the back of the circle - if heights are an issue this may not suit, as you look down towards the stage.  Views can also be restricted given the seating layout" - Helen - 31.03.07

This theatre is a seven sided, glass walled capsule, suspended from huge marble pillars.  Its design means that not one of its seats is more than nine metres from the circular stage.

Its Studio transforms for every show, with walls and partitions that slide and seating that moves to fit the set design.
